Type 2 Diabetes isn’t a life sentence

You hear the dreaded words “you’ve got Type 2 Diabetes”. All of a sudden everything changes in that instant. The doctor tells you that Type 2 Diabetes is a progressive and chronic disease and that you can expect a whole host of health issues as it gets worse. But that is simply not the truth, type 2 diabetes isn’t a life sentence.

You then hear that ahead of you is a lifetime of checking blood glucose, taking medication and eventually moving onto injectable insulin as the disease progresses. You hear words like amputation, coma and death. It feels like you have no hope but you do. Type 2 diabetes isn’t a life sentence!

Type 2 Diabetes is not progressive

I hear this story every week. Someone comes to me for help to control their blood sugar, to try to avoid ending up on insulin. But here is the problem – Type 2 Diabetes is NOT a progressive disease. At least, it doesn’t have to be.

Type 2 Diabetes is a lifestyle disease that can be reversed with dietary intervention. 

Your diagnosis doesn’t mean that you are going to face a lifetime of declining health and illness. 

Ending up on insulin isn’t your guaranteed future, if you you make the right diet changes today.

I recently read this “advice” in a magazine and I read it with growing horror. The person asked “Is it getting more common” and obviously the answer is overwhelmingly yes. That much is true.

 However the doctor that wrote this response failed to say that it is completely avoidable, reversible and doesn’t have to be your destiny even if it is in the family.

She mentions nothing about how dietary changes to a low carb diet today can mean the difference between getting a diagnosis and avoiding ill health.

Without having to give up carbs completely!

When the doctor diagnoses you as having T2D (Type 2 Diabetes), it doesn’t mean that you just got it recently. T2D has been in your body a lot longer. Doctors call this “in situ” which means it has been around for a long time, perhaps for decades. Yes, decades. Dr. Joseph Kraft developed the Kraft Insulin Assay test that shows the early indications of T2D decades before it shows up on a blood test. 

The Kraft test is a simple glucose test that you take after you eat. The test is able to warn people of a problem early. Even before your body shows any problems from high blood sugar. And long before you need to take medication. A simple dietary shift is enough to avoid this horrible disease.

What orthodox medicine recommends

The doctor in the article ends her advice with this gem: “lifestyle changes can help improve blood sugar but medication will be required”. Well that is not surprising if you are not telling patients that if they can cut right down on refined carbs, they can reverse the T2D and put it into remission. Changing your diet by making simple and cheap changes is all that you need to do. 

If doctors like this one are giving out the health advice then we are all doomed. When will healthcare professionals be held accountable for giving advice to us that is so wrong?

Imagine a doctor sitting on the cure for cancer but telling people “you’ll need medication”! They would lose their licence and probably face serious jail time for allowing people to die needlessly. This is no less serious than that. 

The Type 2 Diabetes Wave

According to the WHO “There are about 60 million people with diabetes in Europe, or about 10.3% of men and 9.6% of women aged 25 years and over. Prevalence of diabetes is increasing among all ages in Europe, mostly due to increases in overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity.”

If you have any family members that have Type 2 Diabetes, that doesn’t mean you are destined to get it too. You can change your diet today and prevent that from ever happening. If you’ve been already diagnosed as diabetic or as pre diabetic, don’t worry. You can start today to change that diagnosis. Type 2 Diabetes is not a progressive disease, you can reverse it. It will stay reversed as long as you manage your carbs and follow a low carb lifestyle. It’s never too late to start.
