#29 – Why I recommend the carnivore diet for weight loss

Oh I love the carnivore diet. It’s literally like a reset for your body. Switch it on and switch it off again. So I am excited to bring you all the reasons why I recommend the carnivore diet for weight loss. Plus all the added benefits.

Here are my top reasons for recommending the carnivore diet:

Better protein intake:

A carnivore diet is typically higher in protein, which can help to increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetite, leading to a reduction in overall calorie intake.

Elimination of processed foods:

By cutting out processed and refined carbohydrates, a carnivore diet may help to reduce insulin levels and improve insulin sensitivity, potentially leading to weight loss.

Low in carbohydrates:

A carnivore diet is naturally low in carbohydrates, which can help to reduce blood sugar and insulin levels, and may be particularly helpful for those with insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes.

Reduction in inflammation:

Some proponents of the carnivore diet suggest that it can help to reduce inflammation in the body, which may be beneficial for weight loss and overall health.

Easy Adherance:

Some people find that a carnivore diet is a simple, straight forward, uncomplicated, sustainable and enjoyable way to eat, which can make it easier to stick to and lead to weight loss over time.

Reduced calorie intake:

Many animal-based foods are high in fat, which can provide a greater sense of satiety and lead to fewer calories being consumed overall without forced calorie restriction.

Increased metabolic rate:

Studies have shown that protein prioritised diets lead to an increase in metabolic rate, which can help to burn more calories and promote weight loss. This is called TEFF (Thermic Effect of Food).

Elimination of potential trigger foods:

For some people (ME INCLUDED!), a carnivore diet may help to eliminate trigger foods that contribute to overeating or poor food choices.

Simplification of meal planning:

Hands up my fellow cooking allergy sufferers! By focusing on animal-based foods, meal planning and preparation can be simplified, which may make it easier to adhere to.

Improved digestive health:

A carnivore diet is naturally low in fibre, which can help to alleviate digestive issues such as bloating, gas, and constipation, potentially leading to weight loss.
