Whaaaattttt? Carnivore bread? Isn’t that an impossibility? Well yes and no! On the Protein Priority Diet, carnivore bread can be one of those staples that keeps you going when you just want to have a quick sandwich or bun for your burger. Just a word of warning though, this bread is eggy in texture and taste but you can add herbs to it to improve the taste.
On the Protein Priority Diet, we don’t necessarily ban things like bread unless you are on the Chronic Illness or Carb Addict plan. Most of us are following a moderately low to very low carb diet so this carnivore bread hits the spot when we want to grab something quick. It’s well know that bread can cause a huge amount of issues without being diagnosed with celiac disease. All the more reason to try this bread, whether you’re carnivore or not.
The recipe for this carnivore bread is simple and straightforward and it doesn’t take long to cook. Plus you can make just one, so you don’t have a heap of them sitting around tempting you to overeat. They are high in calories, around 220 per bun, so overeating them if your goal is weight loss, is not a good idea.
You can use a muffin tin for a smaller but taller bun or a shallower dish, like a square glass pyrex dish so it is more bread shaped. I used a personal pie tin to get a shallow but wider bun rather than the standard carnivore bread.
Protein Priority Diet Bread Recipe
Serves 1 220 Calories | 0g Carbs | 21g Fat | 5.6g Protein
2 medium egg yolks
15g of melted salted butter
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
Preheat your oven to 180c (355f)
Mix the egg yolks well.
Melt the butter in a separate dish.
Add the melted butter a little at a time to the egg yolks. If you add the warm butter too fast you might “cook” the eggs and end up with scramble.
Add the baking powder and mix well until the powder is completely combined.
Grease your muffin tin.
Pour the mix into the muffin tin.
Bake for around 10 minutes or until the bread has risen up over the top of the tin and is a nice golden brown colour.
